Microsoft Excel, la hoja de cálculo más utilizada en el mundo, ¡no deja de evolucionar!
En diciembre de 2020, se anunció la inclusión de la función LAMBDA, que nos permitirá crear nuestras propias funciones usando el lenguaje de fórmulas de Excel. Una gran noticia, muy esperada por muchos desarrolladores y usuarios de esta hoja de cálculo.
Como lo describen Gordon & Peyton (2021) con el apoyo del administrador de nombres de la herramienta, se puede asignar un nombre a cada una de las funciones que creemos con LAMBDA y luego, las podemos utilizar como cualquier otra función de Excel. Así, por ejemplo, si quisiéramos crear una fórmula para calcular el área de un rectángulo, podríamos usar la función LAMBDA de la siguiente manera:
=LAMBDA(LARGO, ALTO, LARGO*ALTO)
Esto, indique que la función que deseamos crear, aceptará dos parámetros: LARGO y ALTO, los cuales se utilizarán para realizar el cálculo del área del rectángulo al multiplicar ambos valores: LARGO*ALTO. Luego, usando el Administrador de Nombres de EXCEL, a nuestra nueva función podremos asignarle un nombre como: AREA_RECTANGULO, para en seguida utilizarla así, para obtener como resultado el valor de 50:
=AREA_RECTANGULO(10, 5)
De esta manera, la inclusión de la función LAMBA nos proporciona infinidad de oportunidades para realizar cálculos usando nuestras propias funciones, las cuales inclusive se podrán utilizar de forma recursiva.
Actualmente, esta novedad se encuentra disponible para los miembros del programa Insiders: Beta, pero pronto llegará a todos los usuarios de esta gran herramienta.
